aaaugh!

okay, i'm delurking enough to vent. madly. at #@!%$#$! cmu's postal service.

travel back to thursday. i open up my mailbox (i live in a dorm, rah) to
see a lovely cd-shaped package in the box. unfortunately, the brilliant
student postal worker neglected to consider that the package just *barely*
fit into the box from his side, and the door on my side is considerably
smaller... i.e., there ain't no way that package is coming out of the
mailbox, except the way it went in. of course, there's no one around, so i
head to my room. call up the main mailroom (that handles packages and
whatnot) and explain the situation. well, he says, they're too
understaffed for anyone to deal with it now, but he'll leave a note for the
girl who takes care of the mail in my dorm to get it out the next day, i.e.
friday. fine. (did i mention that i had a horrid migraine before all this
started? no? well, let's just say this didn't make me feel any better.)

friday. package is gone from mailbox. head to mailroom where they handle
packages. package not in mailroom. kid working there says "uh... i
dunno... why don't you come back monday and ask my supervisor?" gaaah!
later, though, i get the standard email telling me i have a package. of
course, i don't see this email 'til after eight; the mailroom's been closed
for hours.

today, saturday. presumably, package is sitting and rotting in the
mailroom. of course, the mailroom is open for a mere three hours today.
not a problem, though, right? wrong. the mailroom is open for the exact
same three hours that i'm to be off doing a service project at a local
park. and i already promised people i'd be there, so i can't really skip
out. sob. this means, of course, i won't have my lovely cd until at least
monday. but it's sitting in the building next door. waaaah!

sniffle.

hate. postal. services.

grr.

returning to lurking state,
rachel
