Afghan Whigs (no OtR)

Horrors!
As if the breakup of Ben Folds Five wasn't enough trauma for a year.
Just thought I'd share the loss of another great Cinci band with the list.
Hopefully the new Over The Rhine CD will make me feel better : )

Afghan Whigs Call It A Day

(2/6/01, 6 p.m. ET) -- The Afghan Whigs have
disbanded, according to their label Columbia Records.
Singer-songwriter Greg Dulli cited geographical
distance as the number-one reason for the split. Dulli
lives in Los Angeles and guitarist Rick McCollum now
resides in Minneapolis. Bassist John Curley and
drummer Michael Horrigan remain in Cincinnati.
In a joint statement the band said, "It was a blast.
We'd like to thank everyone who took the ride with us
and let us ride with them."

The band had an alternative hit in 1993 with the song
"Gentlemen," off the album of the same name. The
band's career spanned 14 years and released six
albums.

Dulli's last project was the Twilight Singers, whose
Twilight As Played By The Twilight Singers was
released by Columbia last year.
