Monk concert

Hi everyone,

Sorry to change the thread of topic but I wanted to mention that Monk's
concert at Memorial Hall on December 15 was amazing.

It was the seventh or eighth time I'v seen them and I think it may have
been the best. The whole band was clicking and when Ric kicked off his
shoes I knew we were in for some great music. The addition of Steve
Schmidt on piano was a brilliant idea. There were some moments that left
me wondering what Monk would sound like if they added Steve and did a Jazz
side project. A friend mentioned that he may be Cincinnati's best piano
player and Ric said he was the best piano player he's heard. Some may
have heard his work on the Ticklepenny Corner CD. If Monk plays with him
again you won't want to miss it.

Josh Seurkamp was on drums and percussion and Mike Georgin was on bass.
Each of them is incredibly talented. You can tell Mike realy enjoys
playing the bass. Josh also released a very nice solo percussion disc.
Ric, Mike and a number of other talented musicians contribute and Ric
produced the disc.

The Christmas songs they added to the set were very well done. And they
returned to the stage after Katie Reider's set for a fine take on "Better
Be Home Soon" (Crowded House, I believe). Katie Reider added some really
nice backup vocals on the song.

I should mention that Katie also had a very remarkable set. I felt bad
for her having to play after Monk but she delivered. Her band was great
and the new songs on her live CD were worth the wait.

If you haven't seen Monk yet you have to make plans to do it soon.
