Re: Greetings all from OR
I work for IBM here in Portland, for their NUMA-Q division. The division makes Non
Uniform Memory Architecture Datacenter servers. These puppies are state of the
art, 64 processors, 8 GB of RAM, Class II Fiber Optic Channel, 112 PCI
slots. mmm. Makes a tasty Quake Server. :-) Anyway, these machines run a
DYNIX/ptx flavor of Unix, and i'm almost positive that they are always looking
for Software Engineers.
We're right next door to The Nike Corporate Campus,
SW and SE Portland are just minutes away, you're about 10 minutes from Portland
Community College and right next to MAX, Portlands Light Rail transit system
that stretches 33 miles and will take you about anywhere you need to go. Cost of
living isn't too bad and IBM definatly pays competativly and it's a great place
to work.
search for your job of choice and look for titles
with OR for Oregon.
We're also a stones throw away from
Lockheed/Martin, Intel, Tektronix, and a handful of other tech companies here in
the Silicon Forest. And high bandwidth is afoot, with your choice of ADSL, VDSL,
Cable Modem or Satellite.
And we have lots of stuff to do around Portland,
There are any number of good shows to go to every night, The Portland Opera, The
Symphony, The Portland Museum, 400+ wineries in the area and 5
microbreweries.
You should come just to check it out and job hunt
for the week.
