re: Moonlight Gardens Show

I didn't get there until early in Brown House's set. Hey, Chris! Good job!
(Anytime a fellow listee and ex-roommate opening for OtR is always
monumentous occasion). I couldn't attend Lebo's, we went to Friday Night
Philanthropists instead (all of you Cincinnati listees, email me if you're
interested in meeting folks and going to a different bar once each month and
giving a small bit to charity). I shoulda had them try to move the FNP
philanthropist thing to Lebo's! Darn...

Yeah, it was a good show. I think people were exceptionally chatty during
the Ticklepenny Corner portion of the show; after Brown House everyone kinda
got up and wandered around and met people, and by the time they started
playing, no one was in the mood to sit again.

Someone from this list (you know who you are!) "borrowed" my setlist at the
end of the show and I've not seen it back yet (ahem!) so here is what I
remember, and not in setlist order:

Cast Me Away
Jacksie
Circle of Quiet
Rhapsodie
Bothered
Little Blue River
Latter Days
All I Need is Everything
Faithfully Dangerous
Go Down Easy (the second song of the night)
Lucy
Goodbye
Anyway
When I Go (the show opener, with just Karin and Linford on stage)
Green Clouded Swallowtail
Fairpoint Diary (I like this song more and more each time, with the toy
piano)
Show Me (the Come On Song)
Orphan Girl
Now I Know (that Cowboy Junkies song they've been playing lately, played as
the closer of first encore, a dumb choice)

The setlist had a second encore listed, of Last Night and another peppy one
(I think Jack's Valentine?) but people were ready to scram in the cold, and
their minds were logjammed by the low tempo lullabys that OtR had just
thrown them in the first encore.

When I Go (the opening song) has really nice organ bits, the same kind of
old-school organ parts that are heard on "It's Never Quite What it Seems",
the GDBD album re-release version. "Faithfully Dangerous" was presented in
it's alterna-weird variety, the same as the Christmas show (and a similar
keyboard patch heard on the OtR MP3 of-the-month "If Nothing Else")

Megan thought that Karin looked like Faith Hill. I agree. Someone needs
her to go somewhere other than Norwood for hair stylings... Heheh. Megan
also would be qualified to sing backup at any OtR gathering, I can safely
attest to that now.

We stuck around a good 20 minutes after the show, and only Jack seemed to
make an appearance, but was at the soundboard and not really talking to
anyone else. His wife womanned the merch table, and Todd Kearby manned the
Ticklepenny Corner one.

It was good seeing/meeting everyone at the show, and the aftershow. (Debbie,
Fred and what seemed like the class of '01 from Taylor University, Dan,
Megan, Scott Ulrich and posse, AmyJoy, Andy, Jay, Lynz, Chris F, Drewford
Vogel, the sick Ash Peacock, Jes Aguilar-Walker (at least the next day), all
the people from Lancaster County PA (haha, you know who you are), new
Cincinnati import Lisa, Rick Casinelli (who I didn't see at the show, but
heard he was there) (oof, this is the part where I forget people but don't
mean to...)

Kaldi's: NOT my pick, Jan! Jay and Lynzi's. I groaned at the thought of
it, but took a hit for the team. If there had been a sarcasm key on the
keyboard, it woulda been pressed in Andy's email.
