down the rabbit hole with the popular people

Rhys is just confused because she never realized how incredibly good she
is at what she does . . . Down the rabbit hole indeed . . . :)

Re: should Over the Rhine be popular:

Aren't they already? I thought I was on a list for a *popular* band.
Aaaargh! I messed it up again. All my life, trying to be cool. And so
many mistakes. :)

If the band *does* become incredibly popular, we ol'-timers will have to
go through that irritation with new kids and half-committed fans. And
we'll be justifiably huffy. But it would all be okay in the end.
Popularity leaves. Beauty stays.

But it doesn't feel like L and K are going for massive popularity. I
mean, they're on Virgin, yeah. But they're on Virgin Backporch, and the
name seems to say a lot. So I bet they're looking for that happy mediuum
where they can continue to be professional roving musicians and not worry
about whether or not they'll be in sound financial shape at year's end.

Selling another 50,000 CDs a year. Does that make the band too popular?

Here's my question: how popular is too popular? And I mean the line. I
don't mean Britney Spears: clearly that's too popular. But what about
Macy Gray? Too popular?

Emmy Lou Harris has a new album.

U2's new video plays for the first time today on VH1 and MtV.

Larry Mullen should tour with Over the Rhine during the U2 off-season.
It's so obvious. I mean, I like Don and all. But that fedora. I don't
know.

Squandering my morning,

fred
