RE: Before otr...

Title: RE: Before otr...

I see that many people put Rush on their list of what we listened to pre OTR.  Rush was my main band for years and years prior to becoming a Christian.  When my girlfriend (now wife) would witness to me regarding God and the things of God) I would tell her that I didn't need God I had Rush and if God was a trinity it certainly had to be Rush. (Fortunately I have seen the error of my ways.)

I also listened to the 70's stuff REO, Kansas, Aerosmith with a big love for the WHO mixed in.  In the 80's it was more the New wavish stuff, Blondie, Missing Persons, Sex Pistols, Echo and the Bunnymen and the Talking Heads.

After salvation, I was unfortunately told that all we had in the way of music was (L)amy Grant, etc.  Then one day behold....Undercover!  A whole new world was opened up that led to Altar Boys, Mad at the World, Adam Again, 77s.........

Now all my music comes from visits to Cornerstone each year (where I first saw OTR).

We were also at the 7pm Schuba's show.  It was totally cool.  My wife and I were right in front of Karin, nothing between us but loose garments, monitors and a mike stand.  Watching Karin and Linford up real close is like a drama unfolding, the passion goes beyond the instruments and vocals into the facial animation and body language.  Several of our old favorites moved us both to tears at the experience.
