work

Work is love made visible. And if you cannot work with love but only with
distaste, it is better that you should leave your work and sit at the gate
of the temple and take alms of those who work with joy.
- Kahlil Gibran

but...then what to make of this?

(for those of you who don't check out the otr site, this
was a past quote o' the week)

i think this is true for everyone. inside, if you hate your job, or
merely pay the bills with it...there is a definite longing. and that
longing could be that you are not where your creator has made you to be.

i think it's disturbing to sectionalize your spiritual life and your
"real" life. that's the american problem, in many ways...

and in case anyone thinks otherwise,
i firmly believe that ministry as in church job or various
pastorate positions (not to knock any) are definitely not the
only way god asks christians to work. all work is god's work.

that's my opinion...what's yours?
