The Body is a Stairway of Skin.

hello Sarah, thank you for the tip.
hello everyone else, i've missed you.

while Lynz was at the library this evening,
i read your post, Sarah, and proceeded accordingly.

I'm so thrilled about this direction!
i've been hoping and waiting and imagining something like
Stairway of Skin for well over a year now, i remember raving
about it here last April.
don't misread - i _adore_ the other new songs. last Saturday
at Brady's was a much needed performance for me to experience.
i especially enjoyed the first song of the set (title?), complete
with very reverent, very cool Nick Cave-like organ and all.
this new season of songs is much appreciated.
(there's so much more about that night that still has me
warmed and happy, but Lindsey already wrote about much of it.
it was good to see you again.)

so anyway, i fired up UltraPlayer and listened through several
times. i love the sexiness. i'm also pretty happy about the
groove factor. i know that i'm happy with a song when it
doesn't seem proper to sit still. so i mixed some of my Mono,
Massive Attack (Mezzanine), and Portishead MP3's and promptly
returned to some spackling and sanding jobs around the house
that i'd abandoned.

i enjoyed walking Lindsey home from the library, taunting her
with the fact that i had something for her at home that would
make her evening. i'll share some random candid commentary
said as we listened to the song a few times:

"awww. yeaaahhh. (ala Barry and LaVon)"

"this sounds *positive*, i mean Beth (Portishead) sings about
heartbreak _all_ the time."

"what a great way to keep their music fresh and sexy!"

"i dig the song of the humpback whale whistles and moans..."

"yeah!"

"sexy."

"WHO remixed this?! i have alot of faith in Linford and Karin,
but there are so many "tricks of the trade" ala Portishead/
Massive Attack/Mono in here...
i just didn't know they'd have this kind of electronica savvy."

"yeah, i'd hoped for this and dreamed, but... WOW!"

"phasey flangey cycle on the high hat & snare...
ooh, gated-sounding click in lieu of the snare at the
end of every other measure. nice."

"nice."

"smoo o o o o ooth."

"you go, Karin! nice spoken word and whispers.
this is SO capitalizing on her sexy voice."

"i think it'll alienate most of their long-time folky fans."

"...but it'll also more than quadruple their audience."

"aw yeah, this is sexy."

(this concludes the evening's invitation of you readers into our living room)

does anyone have any information regarding this track?
after Lindsey transcribed the lyrics on paper and read to me,
she was convinced that the lyrics are Linford's. i agree.
does anyone know who did the mix job? or wrote the music?
