you're right chris, it's not exactly a jazz chord progression. but how often 
do you find Fmajor and Cmajor in the key of D?  i expected A and G and Bmin 
and Emin or something . . .

i have another question too.  when played in the key of D, is C what is 
called a minor seventh?  i've yet to go buy some good music books.  or maybe 
i'll take lessons. . .  i don't think that would be artistically stiffling 
like everyone always says.
