Cowboy Junkies Valentines Day at Bogarts

I saw Cowboy Junkies at Bogart's tonight. I saw listees
AmyJoy and Dan, Yvonne, Melissa and her friend Chris, and Jay
from Louisville with his girlfriend. The opening act was
Josh Rouse ( http://www.joshrouse.com ). I liked his music.
He gave away a free sampler CD with two songs on it:
_Directions_ and _Laughter_, which are from his CD _Home_
which will be released on 03/14/2000 (according to the back
cover.

It was great to see Cowboy Junkies again. The only
other time I saw them was when Over the Rhine opened for
them at the Taft Theater here in Cincy. Towards the end
they were playing some hard rock music with lead guitar
and mandoline working together in synergy and Linford's
organ reminding me of 1960's organ music. Karin worked
well with Margo's vocals.

Afterward I was accidentally first in line to get my
copy of their new CD, _Rarities, B Sides and Slow, Sad
Waltzes_ autographed by Margo Simmons. Afterwards I
moved to the back of the line to talk to a couple people
and I saw Linford walking up the short stairs from the
main floor to the bar area. I asked him to autograph
my new Back Porch version of _Good Dog Bad Dog The Home
Recordings_. He signed "All I Need is Everything" over
the photo of an empty garage. As we talked I asked him
if he would show up to a Rhinelander Ball if it were in
Cincinnati or Kent. He said that he thought it would
be good to have another Rhinelander Ball and that they
probably would have one. I forgot that they own the
name Rhinelander Ball and so he probably meant in the
sense of an officially Over-the-Rhine sponsored event,
so I forgot to ask specifically if the listees
had a ball would they visit. Blame my star-struckedness
for the oversight. He offered to also autograph my
replacement copy of _Amateur Shortwave Radio_, which I
did not not ask because I did not want to ask for too
much. He even tore off the celophane for me and wrote
above the silhouette of a man with lightning bolts in
his right hand, and a lightning bolt antenna on his
hat: "Point your antenna toward the good stuff."
