The reason that I have heard that Ric's guitars are so in the 
background is that he had no artistic license in this record.  I 
believe that I even heard that they recorded everything and sent it 
to him to put in his parts, without giving him any chance to have a 
say as to whether or not he liked the parts.  I am not sure if this 
is true or not, could just be hearsay.  It was said that this is part 
of why he left the band...S
