Re: final words

i tend to hold my tounge when such things come out on the list...for
fear of finding myself a hypocrite once more...but here goes...

for the record, i like to call myself a christian...mostly...i often
find myself hiding behind spiritual anonymity for fear of giving God a
bad name...but i think there are times when we must speak out and if
we do sin, we should do it openly, boldly, and with all desire to
right what wrongs we commit...

at the risk of receiving hate mail from the same people, i am saddened
and angered to know that people have been sending you hate mail under
the guise of christianity and in the supposed name of God...i don't
recall God ever telling us to hate people...in fact it seems the Bible
consistently shows that hate leads to greater (by human standard)
sins--adultery, stealing, murder, etc...for example, hate has led not
only to the massacre of millions of jews and christians martyred for
their faith, but also homosexuals tortured and ostracized and murdered
for their lifestyle...now i don't know about the other christians on
this list, but i for one do not believe it to be Christlike or Godly
or right to deal with what you believe to be one person's sin by
committing one of your own...in fact, God tells us to _love_
sinners...and since we're all sinners, i guess that means we're all
supposed to love each other...it's his job to decide what each
person's fate is...that job has never been ours...

you honestly

thieves, etc.

why can't

wake up.

bingo...like i said, we are all sinners...paul called himself "the
chief of sinenrs"...and if one of the most amazing men of God i've
ever read thinks he's the chief of sinners, then i must be...well, i
don't want to think about what i must be...and what amazes me every
day is the realization that God still loves me...and i don't care what
jan does, i don't care who she does it with, she's a sinner just like
me for reason's other than her choice of lifestyle and i'd rather know
someone like her who is seeking the truth, who is openly discussing
beliefs and ideas, than someone who claims to be a christian but is
closed-minded and unwilling to accept people for who they are...i
believe that the ACT of homosexuality is wrong...i believe it is a
sin...but my responsibility is to show love that knows no bounds, the
kind of love that God shows me, to everyone i meet...now, granted none
of us are always good at doing that...and i think this is a big area
of hypocrisy for many people...but the bottom line is that we who call
ourselves christians should be ever working towards that perfect
example in Christ, mindful of the things and qualities he requires of
us...always striving closer and closer...digging deeper and deeper
into our own hearts to expose for Christ the blackest parts that need
cleansing...and i can say from experience that if we're not willing to
do the digging ourselves, he'll do it for us and it will hurt even
more when he shows us who we really are...

abortions (and

it is a big contradiction...i didn't read mark's original post, so i'm
not sure if you're interpretation is correct on what he said, but
based on what you've stated here, i have to agree with you...the God
of the Bible loves you, jan, every bit as much as he loves me...and it
has nothing to do with what we do or who we love or anything
fleeting...it has only to do with the fact that he made us...and he
made us exactly how he wanted us to be...we each have a different
journey before us...we all have our own paths...we will all make
different decisions when confronted with the same choices...but he
loves us all equally, believer or non-believer, adulterers, liars,
cheaters, embezzlers, saints, prayer warriors, homosexual or not...

that's not to say i condone any sin...but i personally believe that as
a christian, i'm equipped to give a gift that the world can't
give...that is grace...none of us deserve it...but God gives it to his
children and no gift is complete until we the recipients pass it
on...read "What's so amazing about Grace" by Philip Yancey...that
about sums it up...
