While we are on the iced tea front. I learned in the paper today that a
teaspoon of sugar adds 16 calories to your drink. Being a northerner who
knows what sweet tea is I still made it the northern way (actually the
southern unsweet way... large batches brewd on the stove an then chilled)
because I wanted the option of using Sweet and Low. That is because I was
thinking of sweet tea in terms of the calories in a can of regular pop which
is around 100 becasue they add about 12 teaspoons of sugar (of course that is
what my friend from Texas puts in her coffee). Actually it is no longer suga
r, but corn syrup which opens up a whole nother can of worms besides calories.
So I may have to experiment with making real southern sweet tea.
