Jeff responds:
My brother is a former deadhead, who lived the
lifestyle to the hilt until he got busted for
pushing acid at a show in Ohio. He spent a year
in the state prison in Lancaster there. Now, he's
a Christian and on staff with Young Life.
But I digress.
During this time, my mom was famous for blaming
my brother's attitudes and drug use on "that
music." I got defensive with her -- because I
agree with Jessyka's assertion above.
That said, I think music *reinforce* behavior in
people. Just listening to Crystal Lewis doesn't
make you a Christian -- but it certainly builds
you up and makes you feel better about being one
if you are. In my opinion, the same would hold
true for the plethora of obscenities and
antisocial behavior in rock music today.
