Sarah,

I had to laugh a litle bit at your 'Christian" music
list because the bands you listed have traditionally
been ignored by CCM for 'not being christian ENOUGH'!
On the other hand, they have not been welcomed into
the mainstream for being 'too christian.' Perhaps they
were before their time...umm?

I remember vividly Amy Grant CD's being pulled off the
shelves of Christian music stores when her material
was picked up by pop radio...The Bono debate still
rages on...The Choir has been scolded for singing
about familial love and not using enough cliches...DA
for being cynical, Mike Roe of the 77's for saying
NAKED (among other things)...TVB for rocking too
much...Sarah Jahn and OTR because they are not afraid
to use the dreaded minor chord -- too dark some
say!...

The best thing is to listen to what moves you no
matter who's singing it. i am a Christian who can
greatly identify with some of the anger and issues of
TOOL and NIN but cannot get into the happy-joy of Out
of Eden...don't understand Point of Grace, Michael W.
Smith, Rachel Lampa (or any of the other Brittney
knock-offs), Chris Rice, or...

It's music no matter who's presenting it...there are
satanist, christian, buddist making it. As someone
already said, it's up to you as an intelligent person
to discern and find what appeals to you.

A good book to read on the history of the Christian
music genre is one Charlie Peacock wrote a few years
ago (the name escapes me) -- I leant it to a friend a
few months ago and have yet to get it back...

Feeling chatty (and yeah, there was real OTR content-
Whoo Hoo!)

silly,
z
