I'm not a big fan of "Summershine," either. It
spent little time in my CD player, and while the
tunes were catchy as I listened to them few of
them had staying power with me. I didn't find
them rattling around in my head all day long.
It's a good thing that Bill Mallonee stretched
himself musically, and I think had Compass
promoted the record it would have done pretty
well. But personally, I'm more drawn to the
"Blister Soul" era.
Bill's latest disc "Fetal Position" is a great
record. It's a good mix of some of the Brit pop
of "Summershine" and earlier VOL material. I had
it in my player for two weeks straight -- it has
great hooks and melodies.
