Re: it inflames me as well

No need to be sorry. A diatribe is a morally neutral thing. :)
> My solution is to help people.
I think that's the solution most people have. The big question is how we go
about doing it.

That's certainly admirable. The "diatribe" I was responding to, however,
didn't have a whole lot of "make a difference" content, did it?

Did I accuse you of doing so?
> This country is racist still.
Wrong. There are people in this country who are racist. There are people who
are not. The law, if it falls /anywhere/, falls on the side of tolerance.

And, as you must know, we do these things, and more. In fact, this country
annually spends more money on charitable causes, both domestic and foreign,
than every other nation in the world combined. That hasn't changed the fact
that some people want to see us crumble.
> That's my idea.
It's a good one. What it is not, however, is a solution to our current
terrorism problem. All I'm asking is that if you criticize the current
strategy as abhorrent, be ready with an alternative solution. Otherwise,
you're just whining.

We're lucky the government spends /any/ money on domestic social programs.
The government was not designed or intended to do that kind of thing. I
don't think they're particularly good at it anyway.

Every country in history has been founded on the exploitation of others.
That's what founding a country is all about. That doesn't make it right, of
course, but it's a fact. I would go so far as to say that /all/ social
relationships are based on the exploitation of others.
