RE: This Inflames Me
I would agree
that this bill is a trampling of our constitutional rights.
It is an outrage
to be subject to
searches without a warrant or just cause. Using
"terrorism" as an excuse
to strip away our rights
is unacceptable and I
certainly hope that the Supreme Court will do its duty
to the American
people
and uphold the constitution.
But let's clarify something-the
"immigrants" referred to here are not legal
immigrants, they are
illegal
ones. Someone who has entered the country illegally has never
had
constitutional rights. This bill
just served to clarify that
fact. I am all for people coming to this country
to better themselves, but
it
should be done through legal means. The terrorists responsible for
Sept
11th were here with expired
tourist or student visas. People
here without proper visas are already
breaking the law of the land
by
being here illegally and should be expelled unless it can be assurred
that
harm will come to them if they
are sent back to their country of
origin (i.e. political asylum).
Whether or not our immigration laws are
open enough is a debate for another
day-the fact remains that
the current
laws stand.
Just my $.02
