some visual and musical thoughts
i just discovered "the artist and the photograph" pub in spain.....includes
picasso and miro amoung others........i know man ray and lisitsky (cnat
spell!) did there o' grams etc and the bleaching and a general ravishing of
their prints but i didnt realise how much this particular body of work must
have influenced another fave, sigmar polke.
suddenly this discovery leaves me with residual let down and a bundle of
'wow that's so great......'when you discover your faves influences it so
bitter sweet..........in a good way, kinda.
did anyone else hear the cbc broadcast of jane siberry interviewed dec.
2001? she is sooooo articulate...she quoted a friend (k or l?) who quoted
st francis: to st. francis: 'if the world was about to end what would you
do?'
st.
francis: 'i would continue to work my garden'.
i coulda cried.
