Albrecht Durer (was Re: Another question)
Dang, Yosie!
Now I've got that Monty Python song stuck in my head! "Oh, Albrecht, Albrecht
Duerer" Except I can't remember the verses, so it's only that much of it! "Oh,
Albrecht, Albrecht Duerer, bum bum bum bum bum bum bum, Oh, Albrecht, Albrecht
Duerer, la la la la la la la." I'm going to go mad. Maybe if I turn up the
volume on the Monk music, it will drive out the voice of Terry Jones.
Speaking of Monk, Ric did an amazing opening set for David Wilcox last night at
the Ark. He was tuning up for "Womb of God", and he warned the audience that
"guitars weren't meant to be tuned like this" and that "they should be wearing
goggles" to protect their eyes in case the string snapped. Which it promptly
did. David offered to get him another guitar, but he said he would just play a
different song. Then he said "anyone can play with five strings", and pulled
out some wire cutters. "This is called upping the ante", he grinned, and
proceeded to cut another string off! Then he retuned and launched into this
killer version of "That's My Love". On *four* strings! The man is a frikkin'
genius!
Oh, and "Real Genius" is brilliant! One of my favorite movies in High School
(there, I've just dated myself. ;-)). In fact, one of my good friends in High
School was *so* much like Jordan in that movie, we were convinced that the
screenwriters had been spying on us. From the hairstyle to the lifestyle, it
was practically the same person.
Back to work,
