A big WOOT to Ysoie's post!

I have been on the list since 1995. And I am a Christian. And nothing makes
me go "oh, no..." like theological discussions, debates, or other such
animals on the list. Of course matters of faith and whatnot will always
arise because this is music we're talking about, here. Very tied to faith
and whatnot. But discussions that go on and on and on (as they have) about
Christian theology (or, insert any non-OtR topic here) do belong off-list.

I think the "go on and on and on" is the important distinction. No one's
trying to be a censor. As Ysoie said, OT discussions that come and go in a
few days' time don't seem to be a big prob. But when they donimate for long
periods and become divisive, it seems counterproductive to the purpose and
the spirit of the list. (eek! was that a sentence? hope it made sense. too
many writers here...makes me nervous.)

(FWIW, I think that sometimes people join this list having experience with
lists for Christian bands and expect this one to be similar. "But wait, OtR
is a Christian band, right?" DON'T ANSWER THAT!!  LOL)

Gosh, I could go on and on, but I should stop. (posting takes forever
because of the nervousness, heh) Let's just say that this is a really
diverse list and I love it and wouldn't have it any other way.
