Over the Rhine and bootlegs

I wonder if and when the band started endorsing trading of bootlegs?
I guess Karin has never really been oppossed to it, but I remember
a time (maybe 5 or 6 years ago?) that Linford was not at all pleased
about unauthorized recordings floating around. I would guess it was
probably more due to the fact that there was sub-par sound
quality material of Over the Rhine out there more than legal issues.
Anyone remember the story from the Rhinelander Roundup when a fan
asked Linford to sign his copy of the bootleg Northern Kentucky
Symphony show?

They seem to be a whole lot more relaxed about it these days.
Maybe it's because bootlegs don't fall into the hands of casual
listeners trying to decide whether or not to buy their CD's, but
rather us crazed fans that already own everything.

BTW, I think the Atlanta show kicks booty, mostly 'cause I was there.
Still trying to see if I can hear myself in the crowd.
