Go buy yourself a /real/ computer, kid.

The reason the Furthur software is not available for Mac OS 9 is the
craptacular Java support.  Apple fell behind by a large margin, due to
rather large discrepancies between the way the Mac OS and Java worked at
a fundamental level.  The newer architecture of OS X allows them to work
with Java much better, and that's why the support for Java is so much better.

It's not the Furthur folk's fault that classic Mac OS doesn't support
serious Java.

If you have a Mac capable of running OS X, it's definitely worth it.
Even on a slow G3 system, it's a much smoother experience than OS 9 is
these days.  OS X is slower, but it feels more functional due to
pre-emtive multitasking et cetera.
