i have a corner along the fence and have recreated the best part of the backyard where i grew up.
a plum tree grows on the other side of the fence, the plums are so sweet that they make you need water, but there's just a bit of tartness to them that makes you remember why you eat plums at all.
my beanbag chair rests in the crotch of an apple tree that has to be older than my great-grandma. the apples are big, red and juicy.
a sandbox is below the tree, three inches below the sand, there is hard clay that is great for making things to dry in the sun, even though they end up breaking the next day. somehow, though, strawberries grow in the sandbox, it's odd that they grow there, what with all the grass in other parts of the yard, but they chose the sandbox.
there's a small garden with some folding plastic lawnchairs and a shovel stuck in the dirt.
a dog walks around the area, black, he's a little wild, jumps on people and licks at them no matter what.
there's a swingset, but it's bigger now, built for adults instead of children, and there's a small rolling hill that's perfect for a slip & slide - and the grass is such that it withstands the assaults of the sliders without any difficulty.
ok, so i took up a bit of space, but it's big enough that i can (and will) share it if anyone wants to sit around and eat.
right now, the music is afterhours by the velvet underground.
