I worked in a town named Bourbonnais for a while. Apparently when they had their town centennial in like 1974 some one told them that the town should be pronounced BUR-bon-ay since the had been pronouncing it Bur-BONE-us. It was very interesting, you could tell how long someone had lived in the town by how they pronounced the town. All the old timers still said Bur-BONE-us.
