adding to the pointlessness:

it's also called MAC.  i believe that acronym was
shorthand for money access center, and i believe
originated in the early 1980s (possibly earlier).  my
most recent girlfriend used to say "i have to mac,"
thus twisting it into a verb. that still sort of
scares me.
