For me the Bible is in a whole 'nother category and transcends ending up on
lists like this. It is like when you are having a discussion about the one
person you would most like to spend time with. Jesus Christ is the obvious
answer, but I don't see that as being in the spirit of the question being
asked.
I do the same type of thing on the VoL list. They always have a top 5 of the
year recap. I don't even consider puting VoL down.
If it is assumed that all Christians read their Bibles and are spiritually
nourished by them (which sadly is a false assumption anyway) , then why not
share something else that may infulence other Christians the way it has
influenced you.
Any person on this list that does not identify themselves as a Christian
already knows that there are lots of Christians on this list and are not
going to run out and read the Bible because it comes up as most infulential.
The Bible truly is the most influential book in my life, becasue all other
books are read in light of the truth of the sciptures as I understand it.
The book that I put down as most influential is just that because it helps me
to undertand better a very powerful truth about God found in the Bible that
many people miss. That God wants our delight not just our duty. (That book
is actually the essay that gives the title to C.S. Lewis' book The Weight of
Glory.
