Dick is a nice character. Too nice, if anything. Laura is a nice character
as well.
Besides, the joy of the movie is watching Rob become a nice character.
Really, the only character in the movie who /isn't/ nice is Barry.
FWIW, this is one of my all-time favorite films. You should give it another
chance, if you can bear it. :)
