Essentials/Flint
I had a hard time with the term "influential," so I chose just to go with
what I deem my essential CD's (i.e. what I can't do without)...
any OTR--it just wouldn't be fair to pick only one!
Maria McKee, "You Gotta Sin To Get Saved"
Van Morrison, "Moondance"
Amy Grant, "Lead Me On"
(The above three are probably the closest to being "influential," at least
in terms of inspring me to be a better songwriter.)
U2, "The Joshua Tree" and "All That You Can't Leave Behind"
Shawn Colvin, "Steady On"
7:22 Band, "7:22 Live"
Jann Arden, "Happy?"
Vigilantes Of Love, "Audible Sigh"
Edie Brickell, "Picture Perfect Morning"
Third Day, "Time"
My "flint" CD, perfect for starting fires of any kind, is Maria McKee's "You
Gotta Sin To Get Saved." I never tire of hearing it, and it's so far
reaching musically! Besides, I'm so attracted to that voice...
As for what's in my CD player currently--this morning, I had in my truck a
rather eclectic mix of Lifehouse's "No Name Face," Cindy Morgan's "Listen,"
and Crystal Lewis's "The Bride."
My favorite books, other than the Bible, are Lee Smith's "Family Linen" and
"Me And My Baby View The Eclipse," Flannery O'Connor's "The Complete
Stories," Andrew Chaikin's "A Man On The Moon," and F.N. Boney's "A
Pictorial History Of The University Of Georgia."
My favorite movies include "The Godfather (Parts I & II)," "Apollo 13," "The
Sixth Sense," and just about any of the James Bond films.
