a really brilliant jam band from the UK, Ozric Tentacles, is going to be at
the Magic Bag in Ferndale, MI (i guess that's near Detroit) on Saturday,
November 4th. they don't come around often, and their only Ohio date is on
a day that i already have a ticket to see Ani Difranco in Columbus... so,
i'm gonna be driving up to the Magic Bag.
does anybody know about this club? good? bad? whatever?
also, if anybody is in that area (or in the Cleveland area on Nov 15th) and
you're prone to liking instrumental music- you might want to check Ozric
Tentacles out. it's hard to describe them, but they are spacey-ethereal,
techno, acid-house, ambient, soaring, jazzy, sliding, bubbling music. ya
know, the reason lava lamps and Yellowsprings, OH, were created.
song titles for instrumental pieces might describe their sound: meander,
atmospheric underslunky, sploosh!, kick muck, sliding and gliding,
omnidirectional bhadra, fetch me the pongmaster, oolite groove, myriapod,
eternal wheel, bizarre bazaar, subscape, jabular, thrashing breath texture,
erpland, erpriff, erpitaph, ozrosis, coily, sunhair, stretchy, oddentity,
etc and so forth for 20 albums of songtitles like that...
if interested, email me and i can give ya more info (probably more than you
would want to know). Mr Chris Emery knows of their exploits, too... or at
least he's heard some of their stuff.
