Another meal on wheels as we're preparing for HENRY V. Simple food, tonight, and a strange mix… Hummus, pita bread, cookies, and some candy, all washed down with Frutopia. Whoever said that theatre people eat well was wrong!

DINNER: Friday, March 7, 2003

Tonight was opening night of HENRY V, and another whirlwind dinner on the go. We ate from Wendy's restaurant as we made our way to the theater. Wendy's is a below-average restaurant all the time, in my opinion, but tonight's 'food' was sub-par even for…

Tonight, on our way to the show (HENRY V), we ate at Sebastian's, a Greek restaurant on the west side of the city.

Sebastian's has long been a favorite 'dive' for me. Converted from an old ice cream parlor, the restaurant is a cramped space. A few booths line the walls, a couple tables sit in the middle of the restaurant, and the rest of the space is kitchen/prep area.

We enjoyed Gyros with their spicy meat and cool cucumber-based sauce, and Spanokopita before heading to the theater.

A little bit of cooking on a night off from HENRY V… Tonight, I made a sausage jambalya that was spicy, warming, and tasty.

DINNER: Tuesday, March 11, 2003

Tonight, we ate a traditional Chinese rice dish brought to us by our neighbor, whose mother makes these at home. We don't know what they're called — can anyone help?

It's sticky white rice with meat, fish, nuts, dried shrimp, and other items mixed in. An amount of the rice mixture approximately equal in size to a burrito is pressed together then folded into large green leaves, then tied with string.

To heat these packets, they're dropped in boiling water for several minutes (though our neighbor confessed that they will heat them in the microwave), then the leaves are removed. They are excellent with soy sauce, and are very filling.

DINNER: Wednesday, March 12, 2003

Wendy & I ran some errands before stopping at the grocery store to pick up the week's groceries and the fixings for tonight's dinner. The salmon looked good, so we got some of that. Some califlower, carrots, onions, and mushrooms as well. I prepared baked…
