Another quiet evening at home. I could get used to this!

Wendy got home and we did a bit of grocery shopping and got stuff for dinner — carrots for a carrot soup; a green salad, an avocado, and a couple apples for me, and some other supplies. We came home, made soup, watched a little television, and then messed with computers for a while. Wendy is in bed reading, and as soon as this post is done, that’s what I’ll do too.

An encouraging surprise this evening… I’ve been having LOTS of crash-to-desktop errors with OBLIVION, a game I’ve been playing. I found tonight simple instructions for a “clean boot” which seems to take care of the crashes, at least it did for a 45-minute gaming session this evening. It’s not difficult to cause a clean boot — you just flip a few switches in msconfig and reboot — and the game runs better and (apparently) more reliably. Tonight was a very simple dinner — a Tuna Melt made with oil-packed tuna, scallions, a bit of onion, mayonnaise, salt & pepper, then loaded on toast and topped with sliced fresh tomatos and cheese. Pop it under the broiler for a moment or two, and it was an easy, cheap, and delicious dinner.

Wendy & I played some GUILD WARS this evening — something we haven’t done in months because of various boulders in our schedules. It was nice to get back into that gameworld, and we even ran into Nick, one of our guild-mates!

I noticed over the last week or so that the site has been extremely sluggish in responding to hits.

I spent some time evening on the phone with my service provider, and we’ve gotten the site’s delivery speed up six times higher than it was (it was really slow for some reason, even though my line quality is excellent). Hopefully, any slow-downs folks have been experiencing will now disappear.

And, while you’re at it, check out this site for a new game from an independent developer. This game, called Darwinia, looks amazingly awesome. There is a newly-updated demo at their site.
