2003: What We Ate

In this series, we record each-and-every evening meal we’ve eaten for the entire year of 2003.

In preparation for our second annual HIGH END APPETIZER & DESSERT PARTY, we had to go to Jungle Jim’s to get some supplies. We stopped at White Castle for some cheeseburgers and onion chips.

No REAL dinner tonight since we slept in (ahh!) and had a late lunch (Penn Station).

Tonight, we ate out AGAIN… We ate at El Mocajete, a newer Mexican restaurant near our house. Wendy had never eaten there before, and we both enjoyed our dishes quite a bit. They’re not very spicy (but there is spicy sauce on the table). The home-made tortilla chips & salsa are quite good.

Wendy & I ate at a Peruvian restaurant this evening. She had a chicken dish in green sauce (over green rice) and sliced potato with a yellow sauce. She loved it all and cleaned her plate! I wasn’t feeling too adventurous this evening, so I stuck with fried shrimp, which were delicious.

This evening, I went out for dinner with my good friend Paul while Wendy sat at home and ate leftover Apple & Chestnut Soup. Paul & I went to Silla, a local sushi restaurant where we feasted on excellent sushi dishes and more.

They take great care of you at Silla. The people are extremely nice and the food is top notch.

Paul was a bit of a sushi ‘newbie’, so it was nice to be able to expose him to the new experience.

Tonight, our buddy Jay came over for dinner. We made:

Apple & Chestnut Soup with Spiced Cream

Mandarin, Onion, and Greens Salad

Beer-Braised Sirloin Tips in Mushroom Gravy

Stuffed Baked Potatoes

White Chocolate Trifle

It was really nice to spend some time with Jay, and the meal was, in my humble opinion, very good!
