The holidays are looming ever nearer, forcing me to re-evaluate my decision to spend as little time as possible in Malls. It is astounding to me that I’m seeing Christmas decorations up already, and it’s barely late November as I write this. I always thought Thanksgiving was the ‘official’ start of the Christmas shopping season. For me, though, it’s not Christmas until Max, the Grinch’s dog bedecked with a horn and reluctantly playing the role of reindeer, begins the downhill run with the giant sleigh behind him.

I just found out (thanks Gregor!) about a new utility called AmphetaDesk. It's a free news aggregator that trolls RSS feeds of your choosing and presents the headlines in a simple to follow web page.
If you visit a lot of sites to gather your news, this is a dream come true utility!

What a great weekend we had here in Cincinnati!
This was the weekend of the annual Over The Rhine Christmas show at the Taft Theatre, and there were many festivities that went along with the show.

Every December, the music fans in Cincinnati get a very special treat. Cincinnati-based Over The Rhine present their Christmas concert at the Taft Theatre.
This year’s show featured two guest acts. Erin McKeown and Buddy & Julie Miller were openers. Over The Rhine played for about 115 minutes, including encores.
After the show, a group of Over The Rhine fans (many of whom flew in from around the country to attend this show) went to Pizzaria Uno’s for a late-night dinner and much merriment.
On Saturday morning, I hosted an informal Brunch at our new house, complete with excellent food and live music.
The whole weekend was a great time.

On 05-September-2001, I added an internal ATAPI ZIP drive to the system. Users won’t notice this addition too much, since it is used mainly for system backups. I also wrote a script that automagically backs up the entire system, including dumping the tables, to the ZIP drive.
