Can I take that as a negative appraisal?
I loved this movie. Not in a gushie way. In the
amazing-meditations-upon-the-deep-structures-of-society-and-huumanity
way.
This is the initial list of things I found interesting in this movie:
gender, feminism, postmodern subjectivity, naturalism, metafilm,
homosocial continuum, fantasy versus reality, metabradpitt (seriously),
society versus atavism, culture as feminine, unexpected railings at The
Deity, Social Darwinism, Generation X at 30, fascism versus benevolent
dictator, the sublime of nature versus the sublime of the discourse
formation, subaltern speech, Foucault's rules of discourse formation/what
can be heard, consumerism . . . and . . . abs of steel.
