She used to be on one of the earlier Cosby TV shows (Cosby or Different World)
and eventually hooked up with Lenny Kravitz thru Lisa Bonet.  Kravitz
produced and performs on her cd.  I haven't heard any more than a song
or two, but the few reviews I've caught wind of have been pretty positive.
