The only problem with this statement being that,
adjusted for inflation, gas prices in the US are
near the all-time low.  Even in real terms, prices
are lower than they were in the late 80's.  And
this is despite the highest demand ever.
The other fallacy being that a one-day demand drop
would hurt the big oil companies.  As long as they
get their money, it doesn't matter what day of the
week they get it on.  They know there's lots of
big cars out there; they can afford to wait.
I know someone who works for an oil company, and
claims that profit margins on regular gasoline are
pretty low anyway; the real profit is on the junk
food they sell you when you fill up.  How about a
one day JUNK FOOD OUT instead?
