I don't think haikus can join and rhyme and still "work", but:
i'm still working too
and listening to patience
seeing the haiku swell
god spare us from jay:
courier modernism
white spaces from hell
i wake from dreaming
must leave this office behind
christmas stuff awaits
looking forward now
snug in my new patience cap
i shall not be late
trade road for a dirt path
and a malibu for a sleigh
the cold for some fresh snow
and lead the year away
trading the holiday haiku
for more traditional verse
and stopping while ahead (am I ahead?)
before the rhyming gets any worse
looking back on the year
that saw a bunch of crap go down
bruce swaps his awesome pad
for a fun but conservative town
closing all the windows
and shutting down this place
filling my last post of the year
with charm and arguable grace
finish with haiku
one final post from lachey
to close out 98
