More Christmas music

Sorry if this comes after the discussions are over: I get the digest and
only log in every 3 days or so. Couldn't resist joining this thread.

Favorite Yuletide recordings:

Most anything by the Robert Shaw Chorale. Choral hymns for some reason sound
angelic and mighty, especially reverent.

"Our Christmas" - various CCM artists from the early 90's. Like MW Smith's
"Emmanuel". Also, as a twist, Roberta Flack was on there with her version of
"What Child Is This?" Irreplaceable.

"O Holy Night" by Christmas. Old 80's Boston band rocks up the original.

"Silent Night" by the Dickies. Single. Classic hymn gets totally punked out.

"Oiche Chiun" by Enya. Silent Night in Gaelic. Slow, mellow, and quietly
respectful of the glory of His birth. Ever see a grown man cry? Watch me
listen to the 2nd verse of this. (OK, TMI, kids; move on!)

DKNOTY by OTR. But of course.

"Rudolph Burger, Hold The Nose". Don't remember who does that one. Came off
the Tarquin Records Christmas sampler.

"Windham Hill Winter Solstice III". John Gorka's "Christmas Bells" seems
especially poignant now.

OK, back to lurking. Enjoy the Taft show. I look forward to the reviews!
