i have to admit, i tend to agree with bruce on this one. i think it brings
back back memories of spending too much time on aol chat boards, where
every five minutes a newcomer would yell "a/s/l check!".

it's definitely a format issue, though. if someone were to, say, code up a
database that lostees could post to from a web page, i'd happily check.
but wading through message after message of an ever-growing list of
names... after the first couple, you start having to actually -read- the
whole list each time just to see who's new.

in short: fifty messages a day of lively debate is great. fifty messages a
day of a chain letter, not so good. IMNSHO, at any rate.
