How about a story about an old Chinese chef - a widower - who must deal
with his three daughters growing up and apart from him?  The entire film
has a backdrop of food and cooking, and is a great little movie.  The film
is _Eat Drink Man Woman_.  Not yucky romance, although relationships
definitely enter into it.
