RE: the usual suspects



I think the actual quote was pre-Lewis and goes something like "The devil's cleverest ruse is to make men believe that he does not exist"
 
I have seen this in several incarnations but I believe that is the correct original version.

Wait... there's some disagreement on the web, which is causing confusion in my mind... I think the quote might *actually* be
 
"The greatest trick the devil ever pulled was convincing the world he doesn't exist."
Oh, sure, give away the plot, whydontcha! But the saying is *hardly*
original to this film. The first time I remember hearing words to this
effect was in Al Hartley's comic-book adaptation of Charles Colson's _Born
Again_, and even *then*, I think he was quoting C.S. Lewis or someone.
