I have a two liter vaccum pump squeezie thing-a-ma-doo-hickey and when I use it
to remove any extra air from my two liters, it definitely stays fresher longer.
 Especially when it gets below half full...  

What about osmosis?  Doesn't the co2 permeate that thin plastic anyway?
