Re: josh groban

::listening to Josh Groban stream::

thanks David.

Ah. I know what this genre is: "Vocal"

The traditional, Itialian stuff is pretty nice. Good arrangements,
insteresting melodies.
But "To Where You Are" sounds like a song on a Disney soundtrack. The
80s hair metal soaring guitar soured his otherwise good version of
"Jesu, Joy of Man's Desiring" for me...
I can't stand when opera singers think they have to pander to American
pop music - it's like every opera singer has one crappy Michael
Bolton-esque track. At least Pavorotti has the good sense to get Eno/U2
or Sting to do *his* pop track. Of course, Mr. Groban is only 21, and
likely hasn't got much say over that stuff. The record execs probably
have their talons buried deep in his young flesh. Ani comes to mind here:

"They told you your music
could reach millions
the choice was up to you.
You told me 'they always
pay for lunch
and they believe in what I do.'"

Did anyone check out his web page forum with all the marraige proposals?
I can see the FOX show now: "Who Wants To Marry an Opera Singer?"
