Your guy will be in my prayers!  My cousin is a career Marine: when I was in 
high school we spent family Christmases wondering where he was and if he was 
ok, so I know how very very un-fun that is.  I'm sure it'll make all the 
difference in the world to him that you're at home waiting for him to come 
back.  Keep us posted!  :)   I'm really glad to hear he has an *option* to 
re-enlist: I know of several people trying hard to get out of the Army after 
being told they were not going to be released at their expected end of 
service... they're not happy one bit.  

Rhys: 
Your dad's in subs?  My step-dad was career Navy (enlisted at 18, retired as 
a Commander)  and spent most of it in a submarine.   Mom only met him after 
he was retired, so I can't personally relate to the gone-for-long-periods 
bit, but I've certainly heard about it!  And I've never met ANYONE so 
compulsive about putting things where they belong.  Neat-freak doesn't begin 
to cover it.... is your dad that way too?  :)
