folk music?

hola, listeros.

a long time ago i think we had some posting/discussion
about what folk music is (definition-wise).  fred
comes to mind--fred, do you remember?  did anyone else
participate?  don, were you in on it?  i was
archive-searching for that info.  it was very helpful
at the time, and i'd like to pass it on to some
friends.  anyone know?  anyone want to post something
similar in lieu of it?

i think i've been unsubbed so i re-subscribed.  i
haven't been able to get at the latest archive
either--anyone know why (and/or having this problem)?
