Wow.... just, wow!  I've been listening to Up pretty much non-stop for the last
couple days, and I am just enthralled.  How does he do it?  It's so richly
textured, and this time (finally), not a single song makes an easy single.
Most songs are over six minutes, and have multiple movements (if you will).
"growing Up", the second track, features one of the catchiest walking beats
I've ever heard, and even the rather silly song about the Jerry Springer
phenomenon is full of layers, musically.  I love the way he can carry a tune
forward using about six different instruments, passing the melody one to the
other.  I was glad that Signal To Noise finally saw the light of day.  What an
intriguing way to end the CD!  Fade out.  Nice.  It's so powerful.  The whole
thing is gripping, soaring, haunting.  The more I listen to it, the more
I like it.

Highly recommended from Down Under!

I'm now in Cairns.  Four days here and then on to Port Douglas.  Here in
Cairns I'll be doing some more reef snorkeling, and taking a cable-car
skyride over the rain forest.
