this is a classic fundamentalist viewpoint. the thing about islam
it'strying to do in 50 years what it took the christian religion/faith 300
years to move frmo burning people at the stake to this current idiom.

islam has never been forced to modernize, it's been in aplce where history
and tradition are valued. and now they are trying to catch up to the
modern world.

fundmanetalist groups are present in all three of the most common faiths
(judaism, christianity(including catholic), and islam. characterised by a
fear of losing the real truth, that the modern world is a threat. and so,
fundamentalists (all of them) react to this with fear. their fear and
insecurity cause them to lean harder on the harsh elements of their faith
in order to protect the weaker (ie the ones about love and kindness and
peace towards people). this justifies in their mind the use of force (be
it physical or verbal or whatever) to protect themselves.

attacking money instead of film? highly useful.

sides - maybe tom clancy's nbook and reviews of certain potential effects
gave them ideas.

attack the economy. economy slides.
attack the white house/pentagon - weaken the country

etc. dunno.

just my rambling ideas.

something like that. or that he's been chosen by allah to lead them
towards a safer and better world for islam.

he upholds the ancient faith to a people who are disillusioned by the
West. and afraid.

i think.
