'Twas a Psalms thread - sort of. Song of [Solomon/Songs/Insert Your 
Translation's Title Here] wasn't offcially banned, butr the reading of 
it by Catholic preists was discuraged by Rome for a while, and the 
Puritans tended to ignore it. For a long time even when it *was* being 
mentioned, its overly sexual content was "toned down" via 
interpretaion-- I grew up being taught that it *only* referred to God 
and a human and all that sexual stuff was only metaphor.
